Megan Ross

As an equestrian for over a decade, Ashley has experience all over the A and B hunter/jumper circuit. She has ridden all types of young to old horses from small ponies to large warmbloods and drafts. With experience showing at multiple venues such as MREC, Thunderbird, Milner Downs, Southlands and the PNE, she brings a wealth of knowledge to our lesson program for students wanting to pursue their passions in the equestrian world.

Megan began riding at the age of 7.
Since then she has participated in 4-h, Pony Club, High School Equestrian Team, the UBC Equestrian Team and competitive eventing. She grew up in Oregon, working at a Therapuetic riding center, assisting those with disabilities ride horses. While she primarily focused on eventing and dressage, she has also had some experience in the hunt seat equitation ring through the competitive UBC equestrian team and competing in her high school equestrian team, qualifying for state all four years of high school for Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences. She studies applied animal biology at UBC and intends to begin research regarding the improvement in the welfare of riding horses from all aspects such as veterinary visits, horse management care and ridden work. Megan has had the to opportunity to work alongside vets and will be presenting at the 2019 American Association of Equine Practitioners Convention with Nick Kleider, from Kleider Veterinary Services, as she co-wrote a paper detailing how to handle horses in a safe manner during diagnostic lameness exams, such that the horses welfare is uncompromised.
